Why did it take almost 30 years for electricity to start affecting productivity?
Even during graduation, our class couldn’t just come to the campus to celebrate, we had to have one last class. Designed by AI, I assume, but please tell us otherwise Profs. Yinliang (Ricky) Tan and Wei Yang, we were guided as to how hashtag#AI will be a revolution akin to the steam engine or the internet. But hold your horses, investments that you make today can take time to render fruits (though, the message is clear, you might not want to miss the train..). As usual, the in-class group application of this hashtag#technology gave us some good laughs, esp. botched video marketing campaigns.
Also, kudos to the school for last class dinner at the stunning Pudong Art Museum, overseeing the bund.
In keeping with our EMBA class of 22 tradition of high-quality GE22 products, cathy chen delivered the last class designed and manufactured gift - not a duffle bag of cash (the class fund can’t afford it), but one to take our many memories in this graduation. Thanks for the contribution Joanne Wong and James Lew I had people asking where they could buy it!
Likewise, we delivered the months in the making class yearbook, a fun collection of all the experiences we will forever cherish (well, some stories are best not told, especially for a group of alleged senior leaders..). This project was innovatively financed by Roy (Cheng) Lin, PCC, who applied his newfound coaching skills with a classmate’s company, which then sponsored the cost. This was also possible because of the contributions of the classmates Annie Chen, Leo Wang, Maggie Xue, Ryan Chen and finally Iryna who donated the GE22 branded pen from which we sought each other's autographs (always with a business angle, hoping when one gets famous, we can cash in!).
Yet, we weren’t just yet ready to bid farewell, rather we took it to Kota Kinabalu to celebrate this achievement. We did so much, team building exercises, incredible sunsets, exploring the local culture and biodiversity, that I almost forgot everything (that or a glass or two too much..). Our travel agency? Classmates Marco Kiefer, CY Wong, Iryna, Jennifer Pan, Tawada, Simon Zhang.
