Very glad to interview Charlie Zhang, VP @ AGTech Holdings Limited, a unique JV from Alibaba Group and Ant Group, and parent of Macau Pass S.A., a company I've grown to profoundly admire, as well as its entrepreneurial founder John Sun.
One of their major achievements has been simplifying domestic and cross-border hashtag#payments to citizens and businesses alike - you can now use MPay / Alipay+ in over 40 countries. I personally used my Macau e-wallet when buying a water bottle in a 7/11 in Bangkok, astounding! Despite my teasing, Charlie reinforced how competition is a driver towards hashtag#innovation and we were even promised new services, incl. on lifestyle.
We also touched on the challenges in expanding to new markets, such as India, confirming the very same findings during our CEIBS Global Executive MBA Programme module therein in cooperation with the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
