In a long-held tradition of commemorating lawyers' day in Macau, we take this opportunity to provide transparency on what lawyers do, thank society for their trust and discuss the opportunities ahead.
Aside from talks, we provide free legal consultations and hold our iconic sports tournament, engaging the government in another setting, the fields - thank you to the Legal Affairs Bureau for joining us this time, namely director Leong Weng In.
Sports can truly be a force for good by bringing people together in a competitive, friendly and healthy exercise. I had likewise an opportunity to experience firsthand the benefits of sports diplomacy, pioneered herein by former Portuguese Consul General to Macau & HK, now Amb. to Japan Vítor Sereno.
In the coming February, we will resume (after Covid) our bi-annual 3-region sports meet, with Hong Kong and Guangzhou lawyers - this time, it's the turn of The Law Society of Hong Kong - they never disappoint!
Our Macau Lawyers Association (AAM) remains the only self-regulated profession in Macau, which we take with pride but more importantly with an utter sense of responsability and duty. I have had the honor of serving as a member our of the Disciplinary Board and now as Secretary for the General Meeting - throughout I witnessed the will and dedication of many to continue serving the community. In that regard, a special thank you to our board members, the ones before and all those actively engaged.
