Pink Dot HK 2024

Neither the rain nor the mud (it was messy, though!) deterred some of us from donning the only piece of pink clothing in our closets for this year’s Pink Dot Hong Kong, themed "We are fabulous" (not my case, as you can see from the photos, as I forgot an umbrella!) at the always stunning Art Park of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.

In my school's Organizational Behaviour course (sorry, again, MBA talk), we learn that diverse teams consistently outperform homogeneous ones. It’s statistical, otherwise wouldn’t be taught in a business school (where we are always considering that bottom line!). We’re not talking about embellishing a roster for the sake of it, but rather hashtag#diversity that is genuinely embedded and nurtured within an organization through a strong commitment to #inclusivity and #respect.

Thrilled to see our #football team One Nil (after our weekly practice) participate in this event, as it perfectly aligns with our values and the vision of our founders (Peter Sabine): to create an inclusive environment for people from all walks of life. While we may not have recruited any new players, it's about the message we send (and the fun of distributing drenched flyers! sponsored by our own Gabe Singer). Our egos took a hit though from those who rejected a simple handout - come on, just take it and toss it in the bin a few meters away, it’s a good cause, ie. our mental sanity!

This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of the likes of champion HSBC (I could deffo have benefited from the "glam zone"), Baker McKenzie (lacking an umbrella, thanks for that hat, Tan LokeKhoon), Goldman Sachs (Mike Kung (He/Him) - busy running one of the most entertaining games at the event), BNP Paribas (Adrian Wong, CA - see if you can spot him in the photos.. -, Alby Lo), and Bloomberg (Nathan Naidu (纳丹), CFA). I also appreciate those who lend their credibility to these values, like Gigi Chao (missed that smile!), May Chow, Terence Siufay, and many others. I'll make no qualms about it, my hope is to see local corporates involved next year -the crowd was certainly overwhelmingly local. Also, great seeing so many friends incl. Jasmine Chung (she/her) Kenny REN.

Finally, a heartfelt congratulations to the organizing team, especially Abigail Lee. The continuous success of this event is a testament to hashtag#HongKong open and thriving community.
